Carbodeon is a Finnish manufacturer of nanodiamond materials (Nanodiamond otherwise known as diamond particles, are diamonds with a size less than 100 nanometres). Actually the nanodiamonds are as small as 4-6 nanometres!
As these diamond nanoparticles are extremely small they act as a lubricant within this amazing uDiamond PLA filament, aiding in increased speeds and low friction (view video). No need for steel nozzles with this high strength PLA filament.
This material enhances polymers in many similar ways to graphene – as it is also a carbon nanoparticle with extreme properties. There are some significant differences in that graphene is electrically conductive whereas diamond is not, though it does have great thermal conductivity and the nanodiamond particles can be fully dispersed so that the material is not discoloured.
uDiamond PLA is a very easy to print filament with extremely high tensile strength compared to other industrial PLA’s. It can be printed at high speeds around 90mm/s, it has been known to be printed at 200mm/s, depending on the print setup, though Tiament, Carbodeons partner states that you can print up to 500mm/s!

In addition to its other striking qualities the layer finish with uDiamond is very impressive, similar to when printing with ASA, no visible layer lines and the ability to sand finish. The parts can also be annealed to add further strength to your printed object.

- Bed temperature: 0-50C
- Print speed: 50mm/s - 500 mm/s

- Tensile stress at Yield (zero slope): 45 MPa
- High dimensional accuracy even after annealing 0.25%
