    More Details

This is a brand new type of 3D Printing Filament, as the actual colour changes by UV light, just pop it outside and watch it transform!  So sit back, watch the video below, marvel at its properties.

Please note, following several tests by customers and ourselves, we have found that the UV colour change reaction only lasts for about 3 weeks if the print is kept outside 24/7.

The filament is delivered to you FREE OF CHARGE  in a sealed, clear plastic bag, complete with a sachet of silica gel.

The frequency of UV light is from 100~400nm (thanks Daniel) You can view the wikipedia entry on Electromgnetic Spectrum here.

The filament prints easily, just like many other good quality ABS filaments. The colour change under UV is really quite fun; the change is quite fast, especially under bright sunlight. It changes back to white again once inside quite quickly too. Many double-glazed house windows are surprisingly good UV blockers it seems, so indoors in sunlight through a window, the colour change may not be as much as you get outside. I would have rated the product far more highly, but UV is well known for bleaching out colours of plastics, and this filament seems more prone to UV bleaching than other coloured plastic. A print that has occasional short UV exposure will keep changing, but if you leave a print outside for a week in the summer, the reactive colour will bleach out and you will just get white plastic all the time.
